1. "How could anyone ever tell you / You were anything less than beautiful? / How could anyone ever tell you / You were less than whole? / How could anyone fail to notice / That your loving is a miracle?" -Libby Roderick
  2. Open and Affirming Statement

Knowing and Accepting who we are is basic to the faith encounter with Jesus Christ, who sees, calls, and loves us as we are. As Christians, we the members of Parkway United Church of Christ, are called to love our neighbors as ourselves, and to form a more perfect union with God through the love and fellowship of all people.

We affirm that all people are embraced within the family of God and the fellowship of Parkway United Church of Christ. We embrace all persons regardless of their sexual orientation, race, gender, age, nationality, ethnicity, economic condition, marital status, or physical/psycological abilities. As participants in the life of this church, all members of the body of Christ are encouraged to share in worship, fellowship, membership and leadership in our congregation.

As an Open and Affirming church we affirm that each of us has a right and a responsibility to interpret scripture in the light of our own understanding. We also seek to work in the light of the gospel to define principles of human relationships and behavior that are based on relating to each other as whole persons, with mutual love, responsibility, accountability, trust and nurture. Therefore we affirm all relationships that are founded on the principles of love and justice. We affirm that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons are welcome within the membership of Parkway United Church of Christ in the same spirit and manner used in acceptance of anyone in the body of Christ.

We declare ourselves to be an Open and Affirming congregation. We call ourselves to continue our efforts toward inclusiveness, standing against all forms of discrimination. Continuing the journey of our community of faith, we celebrate God's love for us all.

In 1998 we declared that a wedding service for same sex couples is considered a Marriage Ceremony at Parkway.

Parkway is a safe place protected by the Everlasting arms of God.
